چکیده

We consider the optimal consumption and investment with transaction costs on multiple assets, where the prices of risky assets jointly follow a multi-dimensional geometric Brownian motion. We characterize the optimal investment strategy and in particular prove by rigorous mathematical analysis that the trading region has the shape that is very much needed for well defining the trading strategy, e.g., the no-trading region has distinct corners. In contrast, the existing literature is restricted to either single risky asset or multiple uncorrelated risky assets.

Optimal Consumption and Investment with Transaction Costs and Multiple Risky Assets

We consider the optimal intertemporal consumption and investment policy of a constant absolute risk aversion (CARA) investor who faces fixed and proportional transaction costs when trading multiple risky assets. We show that when asset returns are uncorrelated, the optimal investment policy is to keep the dollar amount invested in each risky asset between two constant levels and upon reaching e...

Finite Horizon Optimal Investment and Consumption with CARA Utility and Proportional Transaction costs∗

We are concerned with the optimal investment and consumption in a continuous-time setting for a constant absolute risk aversion (CARA) investor who faces proportional transaction costs and finite horizon. This is a singular stochastic control problem and the associated value function is governed by a variational inequality equation with gradient constraints. In terms of a novel approach develop...

Liquidity Premia and Transaction Costs

Standard literature concludes that transaction costs only have a second-order effect on liquidity premia. We show that this conclusion depends crucially on the assumption of a constant investment opportunity set. In a regime-switching model in which the investment opportunity set varies over time, we explicitly characterize the optimal consumption and investment strategy. In contrast to the sta...

Optimal Investment with Transaction Costs and Stochastic Volatility Part II: Finite Horizon

In this companion paper to “Optimal Investment with Transaction Costs and Stochastic Volatility Part I: Infinite Horizon”, we give an accuracy proof for the finite time optimal investment and consumption problem under fast mean-reverting stochastic volatility of a joint asymptotic expansion in a time scale parameter and the small transaction cost. Multiperiod Portfolio Selection with Different Rates for Borrowing and Lending in Presence of Transaction Costs

Portfolio management is one of the most important areas of research in financial engineering. This paper is concerned with multi period decision problem for financial asset allocation when the rate of borrowing is greater than the rate of lending. Transaction costs as a source of concern for portfolio managers is also considered in this paper. The proposed method of this paper is formulated in ...
